How do you plan your goals?
For the most part, I’m a spontaneous kind of guy. At times, I’ve been called disorganized, or even sloppy. I think the main reason I try to stay as spontaneous as I do is because, when I do make plans and if the plans fall apart, I feel sense of chaos come over me. Having said that, I usually like to try and have some sort of plan or a goal in my head if there’s something I need to accomplish.
This isn’t to say that I never make plans. I’m fact, my job requires me to have a written plan for every work day. However I try to be flexible enough to improvise if things don’t go exactly as intended.

For the big stuff, for the “where will you be in five years?” Kind of thing, I usually try to sit down and write out a plan. I start off be deciding where I want to be in five years. From there, I look at I need to accomplish in 4 years in order to achieve that five year goal. After that, I think about what o need to achieve three, working toward the 6 years goal. Then two years. Finally, I determine what I need to accomplish within the next year in order to reach the five year goal.
I’ve had some success with this approach. But it is sometimes hard to really think about where I’m going to be in five years.
But that is something I need to revisit. Soon.
