What brands do you associate with?
I would love to site here and say something about how I’m not materialistic or that I’m anti-consumer but living at the place and time in human history that I do, making my own clothing , eating only things I grow or kill, and getting from point a to point B on my own 2 feet is simply not realistic
Furthermore, I try to be a ethically or socially conscious consumer as much as possible; but quality and cost are also factors I must keep in mind; being a man of my limited means.
WordPress – the very brand that hosts Your Favorite Blog. No, I’m not getting a kickback for this truly shameless shilling. I just though I’d mention them in the off-chance that one of the bean-counters is paying attention.
Nike – for as much flack as they get for their labor practices, they make a damn good shoe. Since I was a kid, Nike shoes have been the most dependable and the most durable brand in the market. Yes, you pay a little more than you would for other brands; but you get what you pay for.

Apple – i’m a little reluctant to listen to this one, because I am not one of those hipster Apple people. I do not sit around and regurgitate the corporate dogma about how call Apple is more than a computer company, but they are creating art and changing the world“. I don’t have an apple decal on my car. Not all of my computer hardware is exclusively, Apple product. In fact, my loyalty lies with the iPhone. It is the first and only Apple product I have ever owned. But like my Nike sneakers, I use the iPhone, despite the price because I am paying for quality.
WordPress– I discovered this company through social media. They make and market their t shirts to middle aged men like myself who may have a bit of a gut. Unlike most store bought t shirts that have more of a straight-cut to them. Fresh Clean Tee shirts. Are a bit ore form fitting on the upper half of the chest while providing more room in the lower half of the shirt, giving guys more room for their gut. The end result is something that appears to be one of a custom-for t-shirt. Of course Fresh Cut tees are more expensive than grabbing a shirt off a retail rack, but you get what you pay for.
Dixon Ticonderoga – here’s the teacher in me coming out. This wooden pencil company bills itself as “the worlds greatest pencil” and until another pencil manufacturer can prove them wrong, I agree.
Beyond those brands however, my corporate loyalties are flexible. For the most part never been a person to say “I will only buy this brand”. I choose quality over brand recognition or hype whenever possible. I’m looking at you, Sony…
