Podcasts I am listening to

This prompt is similar to the one on our favorite websites in that the internet is like liquid: constantly evolving and changing shape. Just as people began jumping in the social media bandwagon 10 years ago, we have a glut of podcasts about every topic under the sun; and more continue to pop up every day. Below are the podcasts that I am currently listening, on any sort of a regular basis.

The TNG Podcast

Self-professed nerds and real-life best friends Shereese and Andrea take a weekly deep-dive into all 178 episodes of my all-time favorite TV show, Star Trek: The Next Generation. I have listened to more episodes of The TNG Podcast than any other podcast. They are covering TNG’s series finale next week. I’m hoping that these ladies continue podcasting, whatever they decide to cover next!.

The Busted Open Podcast.

Confession time: I am a fan of professional wrestling. I’ve been following pro wrestling for the better part of 40 years. I had gotten out of it for a few years in my late teens and started following again when i was in college. I think this had, in part, to do with the Internet. For decades, there have been wrestling newsletters or “dirt sheets” that have pulled back the curtain on the business. However, the internet made is so much easier for the casual fan to access these.

Busted Open is a talk Radio show that appears on xm Radio’s Fight Nation channel. The podcast is a condensed version of the daily radio show. Typically episodes run roughly 30 minutes.

83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff’s greatest claim to fame was running WCW during its heyday of the late 90s. The title is a reference to the 83 consecutive weeks that Monday Nitro beat WWE’s Monday Night Raw in the weekly ratings; but the show has branched out to discuss all things professional wreslting.

THIS is the official You Tube channel for the 83 Weeks podcast.

The Jim Cornette Experience

Jim Cornette has worked both on screen and behind the curtain in pro wrestling for over 40 years. He has an opinion on just about everything, and he’s all to eager to share it. Episodes of this show often run north of 2 hours; a little long for my taste.

Listening to Jim Cornette is like going into the Matrix: no one can really explain it to you; you must experience it for yourself.

Obviously, I need to branch out more with my listening habits. I’m hitting my limit on wrestling and Star Trek.

I feel like I’m a little late to the podcasting party myself. I’ve toyed with the idea of adapting entries on this blog into podcasting from. Thank you, WordPress , for adding that tool!
