Summer is, without question, my favorite season of the year; but living in Michigan, September is, by far, my favorite month.
As much as I love the summer weather, September is southeast Michigan is still quite warm in its own right. Its not unusual to have temperatures in the high 70s-low 80s during the day – warm, but not the sweltering heat of summer. The nights are cool, but not their frigid temps we will see in another or two.
Baseball season starts winding down; football season is just getting started. For someone like me, who has spent most of his life in academia, September is also the traditional start of the school year; and just like Opening Day is to baseball, things start anew with the new school year.
I think the most frustrating part about September is that the summer business close down, regardless of the weather. I understand seasonal business owners have other things to do, but there’s still money to be made in September. I think has a lot to do with Cedar Point having “Hallow-weekends” through the end of October.
What’s your favorite month of the year?
