How is this even a question? I mean, if you’re from West Virginia, I guess I could see where you would choose the mountains, but still…

Shortly after college, I moved to South Carolina from 2004 to 2012. I was living about 30 minutes from Charleston, which meant I was 30 minutes from the ocean and the beaches.

For guy like me who grew up in Metro Detroit, driving down to the ocean in South Carolina was like driving to downtown Detroit in Michigan I never was much of a beach guy growing up. I never even went on the lakes very much. But being that close to the ocean, I learn to appreciate the whole beach subculture. That, and I finally understood Jimmy Buffett’s music.

OK. Maybe during hurricane season, I could see choosing the mountains over the beach, but that’s about it.

Beach or mountains? Which one do you prefer? And why? If you chose the mountains, what’s wrong with you?
