Earlier this week, I posted about the start of the NCAA basketball tournaments, also known as March Madness. Here’s how my pics are going after day 1 of the men’s tournament.
- The highlighted schools are my picks
- X = games i got wrong
- check marks = games I got right.

My observations after day one of the tournament proper…
- I’m doing pretty good, all things considered! In the first 16 games I went 12-16 in my picks.
- The ones I missed were the 6/11, 7/10, 8/9 pairings, which are usually too close to call anyway.
- I did make a HUGE mistake in picking Mississippi state to beat Michigan State. I should have known better that to doubt Tom Izzo in the tournament. That’s one thing about MSU – no matter how mediocre they are in the regular season, they always bring it in the tournament
- That botched Mississippi State -Michigan State game is costing me. If I picked MSU, I would be tied for first in my work group. Instead, I’m in 3rd place.
- i had actually had Oakland beating Kentucky last night! I usually make a point of making 1 or 2 Cinderella story picks each year.
- So far I am a perfect 6-6 in the Midwest bracket. Of course, one of the 2 remaining games thee is the 8/9 pairing, so who knows?
