Tomorrow, the 2024 major league baseball season begins in earnest. I say “in earnest ” because the Dodgers and Padres already played a two game series in South Korea last week; which evidently count as regular season games.
The Tigers begin the season tomorrow in Chicago – a game that, as I think about it now, I probably could’ve gotten tickets to a relatively decent price. More than that, my school district is on spring break this week, so the timing would’ve been perfect. it’s OK. In hindsight, I’m glad I’m not going to another teams opening day to cheer on the road team. People opening day in Detroit are dick-ish enough. I couldn’t imagine the wind to the south side of Chicago, wearing tiger gear on opening day!
The Tigers won’t play in Detroit for another week, but I have no intentions of going to that game. Upper deck nosebleed tickets were $70 apiece. Quite frankly, that’s more money than I’m willing to pay to see this team from those seats; but I’m sure I will make it to Comerica Park for several games this season.
As of now, I have tickets to see the Tigers play in Cincinnati against the Reds on July 4 weekend. And I’m tentatively planning to see a Braves game in Atlanta next week. Beyond that, I would like this season’s ballpark-chasing to take me to Wrigley Field in Chicago and American Family Field in Milwaukee. We’ll see how that unfolds.
