Rob Revisits: Feeling Montgomery Scott

Three and one-half years ago today, I compared my plight as a middle-aged single man to that of Scotty in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. As I often do, I was questioning whether or nor I would – or even could – fall in love again.

Today, I’m in pretty much the same boat. I’ve dated since then – even been in a couple relationships. I think Shipping & Receiving are about to give things a legit try, but who really knows? I feel like if something was going to happen between us, it would have happened already.

This just feels like the same proverbial song and dance. Maybe something will go differently this time? Its not like things ended badly before. It just kind of fell off.

I appreciate your thoughts. Because I know elderly people who have found love again, and because I feel like I have found new love in the same old husband, my take is that you’re
never too old to fall in love unless
    you think you are.

I can see feeling too old for the dating scene, which from my vantage point looks like a dumpster fire over
    top of a viper pit.

But love? Yeah, that is timeless.
