Rob Reads: “Why Women Initiate Divorce More Often Than Men”

I was killing time today scrolling through the Tikky Tok like I normally do. I don’t remember exactly which video I was watching when I stumbled across this article:

Why Women Initiate Divorce More Often Than Men

A lot of the reasoning makes sense: not being fulfilled emotionally, financial insecurity, etc. But this got me thinking divorce – and the process that started just a few weeks shy of twelve years ago.

When my divorce went down, it was X1 who initially said that she wanted the it. She contacted a lawyer immediately and they wrote up a separation agreement. I wouldn’t sign it until I had an attorney look at it.

I moved out as she requested; and I returned to Michigan. I had been back for three months when my lawyer realized that she hadn’t filed yet. He asked me if I wanted to file, so I did.

I bring this up not because I’m trying to slander her or even drudge up the past. But I just found this article rather interesting, given the fact that my divorce was technically in the minority. technically, she is the one who initiated the divorce. I ended up being the one who pulled the proverbial trigger.

I have to admit that this time of year always stirs up thoughts of my divorce. After all, we are about four weeks shy of 12 years ago since X1 and I separated.
