Back in January, I answered a similar prompt to this in a post called That Which Grinds My Gears. While that was more about the thing that I complain about most, here is the one thing that bothers me the most:
Narrow-mindedness bothers me most of all. I don’t mind when people don’t have all the facts about something as long as they’re willing to learn. Being ignorant is one thing. But being ignorant and refusing to learn is an entirely different case.
We live in age where there is so much information available, literally, and our fingertips. too often. However, what happens is people will find whatever information helps to support her narrative, and go with it. The truth, the fact of the matter, is sometimes relative. That is so incredible dangerous. Honestly, how else can you possibly explain “flat earthers” knowing full well Columbus and other explorer circumnavigated the globe five centuries ago?
If you haven’t seen the 1976 movie Network, watch it. It is almost 50 years old but it is as relevant then as it is now. The famous “mad as hell” scene could have been written yesterday.
Network is currently streaming on Max.
