if this rehashing of prompts from 12 months ago continues, I may have to change the name of this blog to “Rehashing Rob“ or “Regurgitating Rob“. Once again, I am sharing my original response to this prompt from roughly 12 months ago because my answer really hasn’t changed at all. Like so many of my other recent “2024 auditions” of these prompts, my position really hasn’t changed on this one in the last 12 months.
That being said, enjoy the repost…
Not an update, but an addendum:
I remember when X2 and I were together, her ex-husband (that’s X2’s X1, If you’re keeping score at home) Was one of those “doomsday prepper” people. I remember she had a bunch of subzero sleeping bags at her home that he had bought before they divorced. She still had a bunch of canned goods on her shelf and bottled water stored in the offensive some disaster.
I get it, to a point. The thought of some doomsday scenario; some worldwide plague, a Nuclear apocalypse, or even a worldwide information systems going down, these are all terrifying scenarios. But I guess I’ve always been on the mindset that if any of those things are going to happen, we’re all pretty fucked to begin with. If something like Mad Max, The Walking Dead, or The Matrix ever actually happened, it would be more a matter of luck – more than anything else – that would determine whether or not I survive.
