It’s on!
Today is election day here in America. And I think the vast majority of our population is waiting to just breathe the collective relief after today. One because we know that the rent look relentless advertising, junk mail, phone calls, and text messages will all come to a screeching halt.
Second, and certainly more importantly than that, whatever side of the political fence you’re on, I think there’s a feeling that today is going to be a major turning point for this country. If Harris wins the election, which I hope she does, she’s going to share another one of the proverbial glass ceilings that Women have been under this country over two centuries. It will mean that the United States is elected a woman president for the first time in our history. she seems like she sincerely cares about the American people. And of course, Kamala Harris is the closest thing. We’ve had thus far to a Gen X president.
If Trump wins, I think we’re going to see a lot of darker days ahead of us. To be honest, I cannot go back to living four years under another Trump administration; certainly not one where he is promising revenge and retribution critics, opponents and adversaries. He has called the press “the enemy of the people”. He has accused school teacher of indoctrinating children to communist dogma. And he has accused immigrants of “poisoning the blood of the country“ furthermore, he has also said that he wishes he had “generals like the ones Hitler had”. Any politician who praises at Adolf Hitler has to go. Immediately.
I’m cautiously optimistic that Harris is going to win the election. But again, I don’t want to get my hopes too high. I know it’s going to be close one way or the other. Or at least I think it will be close.
In any event. It’s gonna be a lot of angry people in America after today. We talk so much about healing and unifying people, but how much does that ever really happen?
I did my part for my candidate. I voted for her on Saturday. And I made a campaign contribution back in September. Not a big one, but it was what I could do on a teacher’s salary.
At this point, all the junk mail, all the Robo calls, all the text messages, all the social media posts, all the debates, all the news sound bites are going out the window. The voting process is now going to take on a life of its own.
It’s time to go see how history unfolds.
