My Ultimate Destination

Daily writing prompt
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

My response to this prompt has not changed one bit since last year because this really is the ultimate destination for me.

Moving somewhere warm, semi-tropical is and always has been the dream. Sometimes it seems so unattainable , but I’d like to think it’s something I could make happen.

I hate Michigan winters. I absolutely despise them. I hate not seeing the sun. I hate the longer, darker nights. I hate the cold temperatures. I hate the snow. One winter, when I was still in college I got the worst case of seasonal depression I’ve ever experienced. I dropped three of my four classes and very seriously consider dropping out of school together. The only time I left the house was for my part-time job. I’ve definitely gotten my depression and anxiety under control, I never want to experience anything like that again.

There’s a lot of people who never leave the state they were born in. There’s even some people who never even leave the town they grew up in! I know a lot of people always talk about starting over somewhere different. Or moving somewhere warmer and they never do it. The difference difference with me is that I did move to South Carolina. I did live there for eight years. I’ve proven that it can be done and I’ve proven that it is possible to come back home again. Why can’t I shoot for something bigger?

Below , I have embedded my original response to this prompt from last year.
