Even though I’m a summer guy, my favorite month of the year is September. I have several reasons for this.
The “Momma Bear” style weather
Just like Goldilocks says about all of Momma bear’s things in “The 3 Bears”, September’s weather is not too hot, not too cold; it’s just right. I like the fact that, even in Michigan, the weather still gets warm enough in September to sit outside in shorts and enjoy the sun. Most public swimming pools close after Labor Day, but I would argue that it’s plenty warm enough to still swim outdoors, in September. Of course, as it is later in the year, the nights get cooler than they do in the summer. As a “summer guy” September feel just enough low summer to satisfy me.
Academic life starts over
As a a teacher, and as a former student, the academic calendar year typically starts after Labor Day. Not unlike what Opening Day is to a baseball player, the beginning of a school year is a time of intense optimism. Anything is possible at the start of the school year. As a teacher, I always say that if you’re not at least a little bit excited/nervous about the doesn’t day of school, they you don’t belong in the business.
Sports are in nearly perfect alignment
Admittedly, I’m not a football guy; but I am excited about the start of football season. While football all season is kicking off, baseball season is winding down as teams as making their late play-off push. See also: the 2024 Detroit Tigers.
At the same time that baseball and football are I. Season, the NHL and the NBA are prepaid for the start of their respective regular seasons.
The truth is my feeling about September are very much the same as when I repos def to this prompt last year. Check out last year’s response in the embed below..
