Morning People and The Mamba Mentality

Daily writing prompt
Are you more of a night or morning person?

i was just having this conversation with a lady friend the other day.

I admit, albeit reluctantly, that i am a morning person. This wasn’t a conscious decision, mind you. Being a teacher has almost forced me to become a “morning person”. I think there’s something to be said about getting started on your day early and getting ahead of the rest of the world. A great example of this is the late Kobe Bryant and his “mamba mentality”. I talked a lot about that in my original response to this prompt from last year. Check it out below…

Morning vs evening isn’t half as relevant as how productive is with one’s use of time. 😉 Sorry Kobe.

That’s absolutely true. I think I was applying the Kobe philosophy to mornings just because it makes me feel as if i am able to be more productive if I start in the morning.

I probably should have qualified my statement with a “usually”. Obviously it’s going to depend upon one’s job, etc… Nowadays, we have the ability to automate so much though, it’s not that hard to be a night person and set work emails, stock trades, etc… to go off first thing in the morning while you’re finishing up the last of your sleep.

For a while I thought we were on our way to getting rid of the traditional 9-5 workday.

It looked like it might really happened during the Covid lockdowns, but there we are…
