Rebuilding Rob

Agatha All Along, the latest new release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and only the second piece of new Marvel content in 2024, dropped on Disney+ back in October. However, I just finished watching the show over the last few days.

For those not in the loop, Agatha Harkness is a witch in the MCU, who made her debut at one of the earliest Disney+ originals, WandaVision. Her character, as portrayed by Kathryn Hahn, perhaps THE breakout character of the WandaVision miniseries. In the pages of the Fabtastic Four, Agatha was something of a C list character. However, Hahn’s performance has made the TV version of Agatha Harkness actually surpass her comic book, counterpart in popularity.

The title Agatha All Along, and the presentation of Agatha as the show’s main protagonist is a bit misleading . In my opinion, AAG is really the story of the mystery character originally identified as The Teen. it is his journey along quote of the witches Road“ that brings the titular Agatha, along with a ragtag coven of other witches together for their journey.

The story begins with Agatha living a seemingly normal life as a police detective in Westview. A mysterious Teen, who seems to know that she is the witch Agatha Harkness breaks into her home. It is ultimately revealed that he is on his way to the Witches’ Road, a journey that promises to fulfill the desires of magic users who successfully complete the roads challenges. After Agatha recovers her memory, she and The Teen assemble a covenant of witches to make the journey. All of them seem we have something to gain by completing the trip down the Witches Road.

I choose not to say too much about the overall plot of Agatha… all along, to avoid spoiling it. However, astute fans of Marvel comics can probably quickly pick up on the identity of The Teen. There are a few other reveals made of other characters throughout the miniseries. But again, Agatha… really seems to be the story of The Teen. Furthermore, it is The Teen, at the end of the series, for whom we are left to wonder about his next adventure.

FINAL TAKE: Agatha All Along is it best a table center, and it was a placeholder in the Marvel cinematic universe. Hans, larger than life portrayal of Agatha carries the series, even though it is truly the story of the teen and his search for his true identity.

Recommended, but only for Marvel completists and fans of the Young Avengers. Otherwise, it’s safe to pass on Agatha All Along.
