Traffic has come back down to reality here on Your Favorite Blog over the last few days. It more than the traffic increase, I’ve been feeling more is inspired to write ever since I switched to some writing prompts from this particular website. With that in mind, I grabbed an interesting prompt from earlier this month.
Would you appreciate a surprise party?
When X1 and I were still in college, we had a stretch of at least a good year or so, where we would throw each other surprise parties. We both did it for each other‘s birthdays on at least one occasion. And I have to say, I truly appreciated the fact that on the night of my birthday, I walked into my apartment and about 30 of my closest friends and family members were all sitting around waiting for me. I know this sounds so egotistical, but I loved the fact that they were there. FOR ME.
I suppose on certain days, like if you’re just really tired of having a really bad day, then somebody would not appreciate a surprise party. But as for me, I loved every second of mine. Just thinking about how much planning and consideration how to go into not only coordinating with all theguests, but being sure that none of them told me about it.
Would I appreciate a surprise party today? Probably not so much. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become much more of a private individual. I do sometimes get a little bit lonely, I miss having a circle of friends to socialize and go out with, but I’m also quite comfortable in my life as it stands today.
