3 Reasons why

As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today

List out 3 things about yourself that serve as proof of you as a good or capable person.

This is kind of an awkward prompt. Not because I don’t think I’m a good person; rather, because I think it’s rather obvious that I’m a good person and I don’t really need to go through and list three things like I’m trying to defend my job against Elon Musk and DOGE. Quite frankly, I don’t feel like I need the list reasons why I have a good person. People who see my heart know what kind of person I am. But I’m happy to indulge the blogger gods…

I’m a good dad

As I type this this morning, I’m currently sitting at the University of Wisconsin. Kid 1 is attending a “future badger orientation“. He’s here because he got an almost-full scholarship. Kid 2 is with me as well. That my boys are doing as well as they are and want to spend as much time together as they do makes me feel like I’m doing all right as a dad.

My work makes a difference

My students may not always appreciate what I do – particularly the group I’m working with this year – but I know that they will remember me. I’ve had students approach me from several years prior. He will still talk about experiences in my classroom.

I’m dependable for my family and friends

I do a lot for people – particularly my family. Maybe it’s that the women in my life are trying to flatter me by saying “you have so much going on. You’re a good man. You so much for your family.“ But I think that I do. Over the last year or so I’ve really made my family– both the family I created in the family was born into – the center of my world. And I’m all the better for it.
