412

As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today

What age would you like to live until, at least?

Ideally, I would live to be 412. There’s just too much I want to do in the world still. Too many places I want to see. I want to visit every country on the planet. I want to even visit Antarctica. I wanna walk on the moon. Even Mars. And of course, I want to attend a baseball game in all 30 major league baseball stadiums. Plus, I figured living to 412 will allow me to see if humanity ends up like Star Trek or more like Dune.

Having said that, I have absolutely no interest in not leaving my kids whatsoever. Realistically, I just hope I make it past 70. The old man died at 67. My mom’s dad died at 70. I’m fairly certain that my dad‘s dad died before he turned 70 as well. I turned 51 just two weeks ago and I know that the next 20 years can go by in the blink of an eye. Just like the song says “I don’t want to miss a thing”.

This is something that Guillaume and I have talked about a little bit. Now that we’re both in our 50s, it’s something that weighs heavily on both our minds. I know that he’s talked about retiring in the next few years, just because he wants to actually enjoy his retirement. I’ve pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I’m probably going to work until I die.

I’ve also come to the realization that any of the really big ambitious stuff that I still want to do in my life, I’m probably going to have to do in the next 10 years. I don’t see myself traveling the world north of 60 years old. But I could be wrong. After all, I see the apostles, dad posting about all of his traveling adventures that he’s enjoying in his retirement.

Maybe you can break the cycle. 70 is still young.
