4 seasons of fun

As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today

What is your favourite thing to do in each season?

I can make this list really short, sweet and to the point, or I can try to expound on each of the four seasons in a little bit of depth. I will try the latter.

Being “outdoors active” is something that has always been a little bit of a challenge for me. Growing up, I was the kid who would stay inside and play with my toys: my action figures, board games, video games. I’ve gotten a little bit better as it is. I’ve gotten older. Then, when I move to South Carolina, I really fell in love with the ocean. With that in mind, I try to find something from each season of the year that I enjoy doing outdoors. But growing up in Michigan, I was very fortunate in that I was able to experience all four seasons, consistently, year after year.

Winter

Winter has always been, by far, my least favorite season. It was during the winter time in college when I really noticed my seasonal depression for the first time. The days are short. They are cold. There’s not a lot to look forward to outside – especially after the lion season ends. The Pistons and the Red Wings just don’t do it for me. I do like to go to some of the outdoor holiday light activities putting in those only rest around the Christmas holiday season. Personally, I think it should become more of a social norm to leave Christmas lights up well into February or even March. They just had so much color to otherwise gloomy time of year

Spring

When Spring rolls around, the days start getting longer. The weather warms up slightly. But most of all, at least for me, there’s this feeling that everything is about to get better once the weather finally breaks. As much as I love the fact spring equals the end of winter, things often get sloppy here weather-wise that time of year – particularly if we had a snowy winter. At this point, I’m usually thinking ahead to baseball season.

Summer

First and foremost, attending baseball games. That is one of my very favorite activities in this life. But, as I mentioned earlier, I fell in love with the ocean and the beach during my time in South Carolina. So when the weather is nice, I do like to get outdoors. I get sweaty, sunburnt and exhausted, but it is worth it. Summer is also a great time of year for going to concerts. Given where I live, and the fact that we have all four seasons, I have to milk every last drop out of summer.

Fall

As much as i love summer, my favorite weather month in Michigan has to be September. The days still say in the high 70 and low 80s for at least the first half of the month. Then the nights cool off just enough that it’s somewhere between summer and fall.
