As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today
How would your life be different if you weren’t into journals, planners, or stationery?
If I wasn’t into journals, then there’s a good chance you would not be reading this blog today. I first stared journaling when I was in 6th grade. I had always liked reading, in that way that you end up liking something when someone tells you you’re good at.
With writing, however, it was different. As far back as i could remember, i loved telling stories. Whether it was acting out adventures with my Star Wars action figures as a child, or taking a stab at writing movie or TV script as an adult, I’ve always love the narrative form. As you may have noticed, I’ve allowed that to spill over into my blogging experience.
I don’t know what kind of person i would be without journaling. It’s because of journaling that I came to fancy myself as a writer. Because of journaling, I decided to take my own life experiences, and tell them like some great and insightful adventure.
But in a world, without journals, let alone blogging, I think I would have to find some other creative outlet. Without writing, I wonder if I would’ve gotten more into playing instruments or possibly even singing – not that I think I have a good singing voice. Maybe I would’ve taken up art. Either drawing or painting.
As for planners, I haven’t really been a terribly organized person throughout most of my life. I will occasionally write things down on my desk, calendar at work. Once in a while, I will actually put stuff into my calendar on my phone, which realistically is probably something I would be more likely to keep track of.
But I’ve always lived my life by the idea that it’s nice to be organized and nice to have a plan; however, I’ve always felt that if I ever became a slave to a schedule, any slight mishap that throws everything off base would send me into chaos. For that reason, I like to do things a little bit more spontaneously.
