As I mentioned a numerous occasions on this blog, I’ve been a fan of professional wrestling, off and on, for the better part of my life. For those of you who weren’t really familiar with “sports entertainment“ pro wrestling involves storytelling. They are good guys, or baby faces as they called them in the business; and bad guys or ““ as they likewise call them within the business.
Every now and then, when a wrestlers gimmick gets stale, or for the sake of story, driving purposes, pro wrestlers will either switch from being a bad guy to being a good guy or vice versa. Within the industry, this is called a “turn“ sometimes referred to as either a face turn or a heel turn.
I must admit that I have been critically fascinated with these interviews and soundbites lately. Then I suggested that Marjorie Taylor Greene is turning over a new leaf, metaphorically speaking. In fact, I’ve commented on numerous social media platforms that “the most insidious thing MTG has ever done is make me agree with her“
It has been interesting. Initially, she has based this whole character turn over the fact that her adult children are complaining about the rising cost of healthcare of the United States. Later on, when former House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi also said she will not be running for reelection, Green was on an interview and said that Pelosi has “done a lot for her party“ almost seemingly complementing Pelosi – something that is almost unheard of and Trump world.
And now, Greece’s most recent sound bites have incurred the wrath of the commander-in-chief himself. Trump went off on MTG in one of his usual Truth Social posts. I’m not going to share it here as I refused to give that man any more media attention. In response, MTG was interviewed by CNN’s Dana Bash. As for what MTG had to say for herself, check out the complete interview…
Judge for Yourself
I have to admit that i find myself questioning the sincerity of this mea culpa. After all, Greene is responsible for a lot of the vitriol we see in American politics today. She didn’t start it all but she certainly has thrown gasoline on the proverbial fire over the last decade. So I remain guarded. I’m reminded of the parable of the scorpion and the toad, and I remember that leopards don’t change their spots.
But while I remain skeptical that Greene has developed a conscious, she has gotten Trump to come out against her. Apparently she is now receiving threats – presumably from disgruntled MAGAs; though I assume politicians get far more threats on a daily basis than we ever hear about. Whether she’s just trying to appeal to undecided voters or not, the proverbial line in the sand has been drawn. Donald Trump now counts her among his enemies. Stranger thug a have happened. The Grinch grew a heart. Ebenezer Scrooge learned the true meaning of Christmas. Hell, even Darth Vader redeemed himself at the end of Return of the Jedi
Obviously this is a developing story it remains to be seen how it will all turn out.
