As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today
What activity makes you lose track of time?
Lately, the thing that has me losing track of time most is this blog. Today marks 900 consecutive days of blogging. Over the last two and a half years, I’ve committed to writing at least once—often twice or even thrice—every single day.
As I hit this milestone, I’m looking at the horizon: exactly 100 days remain until I hit the 1,000-day mark on May 31st.
Because of this pace, I’ve seen my traffic trend upward, but I’ve also hit a point where the blog is starting to feel like a second job. Don’t get me wrong—I’m enjoying the growth, and seeing the numbers tick up provides a real rush. But if I didn’t have this 1,000-day goal in my sights, I honestly might have slowed down by now. The “daily habit” has become a permanent fixture, but the “obligation” is what keeps me doing the heavy lifting.
Writing remains deeply therapeutic. Over the last few months, I’ve used this space to tap into some heavy emotional layers, and I always feel a sense of relief afterward. It’s through this “therapy” that I often stumble into major revelations about myself.
Beyond the keyboard, there’s something else “blog-adjacent” that makes time disappear: editing my podcast. The process takes me back to the days of filming weddings with my dad. Editing is a distinct skill—I’ve seen how some are just naturally better at it than others—and there is a unique satisfaction in making a transition blend seamlessly.
Even a 10-minute episode becomes an incredibly time-consuming puzzle. While editing serves as a creative break from the emotional weight of writing, it also cuts into that writing time. With Episode 3 of the podcast looming over me this weekend, I’m learning to balance the two.
With 900 days behind me and 100 to go, I’m leaning into that flow—even when it feels like work—because the destination is finally in sight.
