A dynamic, sports-themed illustration of a "busted" NCAA tournament bracket. The central focus is a slightly crumpled paper bracket with red 'X' marks on the losing picks and green check marks on the winners. Animated graphics surrounding the bracket include a basketball in motion, stadium lights, crowd silhouettes, and oversized numbers representing key upsets (#12, #11). The image includes stylized text bubbles reading "BUSTED!" and "SO CLOSE!". The 'Rebuilding Rob' logo is in the top-left corner, and 'MARCH 20, 2026' is at the bottom right.

Yesterday, I posted about the start of the NCAA basketball tournaments, also known as March Madness. Here’s how my pics are going after day 1 of the men’s tournament.

  • The highlighted schools are my picks
  • X = games i got wrong
  • check marks = games I got right.
My busted bracket after day 1 of March Madness

As I mentioned before, I’m not a huge college basketball fan, but I’ll share some of my observations from my picks:

  • I successfully picked the winners from 9 of the 16 games. Not great but not terrible either.
  • Right out of the gate TCU beating Ohio State killed my bracket but the 8/9 pairings are usually a toss-up as to who will win.
  • Did anyone see #11 VCU beating North Carolina??
  • For some dumb reason, I took #15 Idaho beating #2 seed Houston. Every year I’m always trying to look for a Cinderella story. 🤦‍♂️
  • #12 High Point upset #5 Wisconsin and Brie this Badger Dad’s heart.
  • #11 Texas beat #5 seed BYU in a mild upset
  • I agonized over #8 Georgia and #9 St Louis. I was initially picking St. Louis. I should have stuck with my gut.
  • I’m currently ranked 20,003,298 on ESPN’s March Madness bracket Challenge. .
