Rob’s March Madness Day 2 Results – 2026 edition

Thursday started the madness, but Friday is where I found my groove. Here’s how my picks are looking after Day 2 of “The Big Dance.”

The Legend:

• Highlighted schools = my picks

• X = games I got wrong

• Check marks = games I got right

I had to print a new bracket and mark it up from scratch. I left mine at work yesterday.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a huge college basketball fan, but I’ve got some observations from my latest picks:

My Friday picks went significantly better than my Thursday ones. Here are my few misfires:

• Kentucky vs. Santa Clara: Once again, I was in an “upset mood” when I suggested Santa Clara would pull it off. I was this close, as Kentucky barely squeaked by in an 89–84 overtime thriller. Watching that half-court buzzer-beater send it to OT was a gut-punch for my bracket, but a hell of a game to watch.

• Tennessee State vs. Iowa State: My hope for a miracle here was short-lived; Iowa State cruised to an easy 108–74 victory.

• Kansas vs. Cal Baptist: In another one of my “I’ve got a feeling” moments, I had Cal Baptist beating Kansas. The Jayhawks survived, pulling it off 68–60 after a late-game scare.

The Stats:

I went 13/3 for Friday. Wow! I almost look like I know what I’m doing. That brings me to 22/32 for the Round of 64 overall. I’m currently sitting at 21 million on the ESPN Bracket Challenge. I leap-frogged 2 million other players yesterday!

I’m not going to lie: I feel like Han Solo after Friday. To quote the captain himself: “You know, sometimes I even amaze myself.” It’s absolute cockiness, I know, but I’m leaning into that swagger while I can.

As I’ve said, nobody ever has any real clue how this tournament is going to play out. We’ve got eight games on tap for Saturday and eight more for Sunday. But seriously, where the hell was this video when I was making my bracket a few days ago?
