Columnist: 5 reasons marriage doesn’t work anymore

I think this article raises some great points about social media and technology in general – and the ways in which they affect our lives – but the  divorce rate has been in the rise for the last few decades already.  Social media hasn’t singlehandedly killed marriage, it’s only exacerbated problems that already existed for many people.

Very astute. A lot of these articles are often political in nature, blaming feminism and dads who don’t just want to be seen as bank accounts, but this is a far more accurate view of the modern world.

I think this one is the most important of all.

Our desire for attention outweighs our desire to be loved.

As you know, I spent late 2012 to early 2014 dating and so many women on there displayed those attributes with empty profiles, stock images and a shopping list of traits that are essential in a man.

Ok, I really liked this article, even though it is not my generation, per se. I was married in 2002 and divorced January 2012 so I get where this guy’s head is at in that back then, technology isn’t what it is today.

I definitely agree that we have forgotten how to connect on a human level and technology has made oh so easy to bail on a relationship.

I am not out in the dating scene and haven’t been, despite the fact my divorce was a little over 3 years ago. I just don’t have the stomach for it. I’ve made the decision to stay single unless I meet someone live and in person. I just can’t stomach the idea of going on line to find someone. No judgement from this side of the blogosphere but on-line dating isn’t for me, especially when I found out my EXH was on those sites while married to me!

    Oh snap!

    🙂
