Scour the news for an entirely uninteresting story. Consider how it connects to your life. Write about that.
The link above is to a news story that I found completely uninteresting. I don’t care about Ciara. I know she’s a singer but that’s about it. I can’t even name a single song by her I’m not a huge football fan so I really could care less about Russell Wilson. And I certainly don’t care that Ciara is having her fourth child, her third with Wilson.
But the way that this connects to me personally is this: in this society, we worship our entertainers. We have magazines, television shows, and even cable channels that are devoted to celebrity news. At the risk of sounding like an old man yelling at the clouds, I think our priorities as a society our way out of whack.
In fact, I think this may be the one good thing that came out of the pandemic: as a collective society, we realize that when things got bad, when they go and got tough, our entertainers were basically useless.
