Yeah, I really went there…
Are you holding a grudge? About?
Surprisingly, I can’t think of any grudges that I’m holding at the moment. This is especially strange, because I usually tend to hold grudges against people, at least temporarily.
Lately, I’ve been finding that carrying around that level of anger, resentment and hate is just to burdensome. It’s heavy and it’s just emotionally draining being angry all the time.
Of course, I still get mad at people. I still get mad at things that happen to me or things that people do to me. But I think I hang onto that anger temporarily. I try not to let it consume me.
At this point in my life, I feel that by holding onto a grudge, by being constantly angry at someone, and letting them win. At that point, they are living rent free in my head.
Mark Mason’s best seller, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck, can be boiled down to the idea of knowing which things are important enough to give a fuck about. Grudges are just not important enough to give a fuck about.
