If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?
If I had $1 million to give away, I would probably break it down something like this:
$250,000 to the American Cancer Society – The Old Man died of cancer, so this is a biggie for me.
$150,000 – to start a college scholarship. I don’t know how much the actual scholarship would be for, but I’d want to set it up in a such a way that interest accrued on the account could sustain the scholarship forever.
$100,000 to Habitat for Humanity. I just happen to think this is a great organization.
$100,000 to the American Red Cross
$100,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children – because human trafficking sucks
$100,000 to Amnesty International- because it ain’t all about America.
$100,000 to PBS – because it’s awesome.
I would keep the last $100,000 to give out people in need, like the person in line who can’t pay for their gas or their groceries; or going into a store and helping people pay for their Christmas shopping.
There’s a bit in Zoolander Derek first talks about opening a “center for kids who can’t read good”. He explains that even thinking about doing such a thing is the most rewarding experience of his life. Sadly, that’s exactly how I felt writing this post.
