Question for my fellow bloggers:

I’ve been consistently seeing my traffic rise since I started responding to the “Daily writing prompts”. I’m slowing starting to learn about SEO and I’m considering adding Yoast, or some other SEO, to my blog. Is it worth upgrading my blog plan with WordPress to do this?

I have no interest in monetizing this blog, I am just looking to get more traffic. I don’t mind spending few bucks for this, but I don’t want to invest too much in what is essentially a hobby for me.

I would appreciate your thought in the comments…

I have been thinking about some of the same things.

Yeah, this blog is really becoming my favorite pastime lately. But I’m having a hard time rationalizing spending money on it when I haven’t monetized it.

How long have you been at it?

From what I have read you won’t get Google traffic fir at least six months to a year, if it likes what your doing. I have been thinking about Yoast Premium also, but I still don’t have a set direction for my blog so until I have that, I am probably not going to get it. I have talked to some who have a personal blog, like this one, and a business one that is hardcore SEO. I might try that over Thanksgiving Break, but am too busy with school and kids.

You’ll laugh, but I actually started this blog about 11 years ago. For a long time, I just left it alone; maybe half a dozen posts for a couple years.

In fact, these last three months have been the most consistent I’ve ever been with the blog. Actually getting views has motivated me immensely.

And getting hits is just as addictive as writing has been for me.

In any case, it is motivated me to start writing again, and I am grateful for that!

Mine sat for a couple of years. I started playing with it during the pandemic, but did not want to spend extra time in front of s conputer after work.

It is cool how they have this setup on WordPress. It definately is kind of addicting. I figure at worst, I get to connect with people around the world and work on my writing, so its a healthy havit. I just started really getting after again in June and have been pretty amazed with the results. If I can do this when I retire and make some extra cash that would be way cool, but still got eleven years to go for that😄
