My 3 Favorite meals

What are your family’s top 3 favorite meals?

I’m going to modify today’s prompt somewhat, because neither of the boys are with me enough for the three of us to come to a consensus as to what our favorite meal might be. So I will be talking about my three favorite meals:

Does anyone feel like this one is a little bit repetitive already?

Tacos or fajitas

I like Mexican food, a lot. It’s fun, it’s relatively inexpensive and it’s easy to mix a match ingredients you may not like. For a picky eater like myself, that last one is very important.

Also, I must admit that I like Mexican restaurants as a good go-to first date option. They’re casual. They’re fun. But at the same time, they are unique enough that you don’t feel like you’re just going to an ordinary steak or burger joint.

Steak

You cannot go wrong with a good steak! The keyword there is good. Over the last few years, I’ve kind of taken a liking to the Black Rock restaurants. They’re a little bit more expensive than let’s say “Texas Roadhouse” but you get a much better cut of meat and since the meat to served to you on a hot rock, you literally cook it to your own liking.

Again, like the Mexican restaurants, it’s fun, it’s familiar; and since you pay a few dollars more for it, it’s seen as being a little bit nicer. In my ways, your oating for the unique experience of cooking the steak yourself on a hot slab.

Ballpark food

Yes, the food is way overpriced. Yes the portion sizes are ridiculously large. But for me there’s nothing that beats a beer and a dog at a ball game; except for maybe a beer and a pretzel. And, you’re already at a ballpark. What more is there?

What are 3 of you or your family’s favorite meals?

Ballpark food is the best. Nothing like a dog at a game.

Right?! Call me old-school. But I just can’t do those 7 pound, 19,000 calorie hamburgers.

To each their own, I guess

I know it’s bad… and I’ve seen it come out of a can (yikes). But I love the nachos and jalapeños…

What kind of cut of steak? Why do I crave steak every two weeks?

I tend to favor NY strip, medium rare 🙂

It’s very hard to go wrong with the New York strip. However, I don’t mind a good sirloin either.

Growing up, my mom always overcooked everything. So I used to like medium well. But then, when I was introduced to the concept of flavor, I decided I wanted medium rare as well!

Sirloin is easier on the wallet, and if you have a good rub, you’re set!
