Too much time on my hands

If you didn’t need sleep, what would you do with all the extra time?

Think about this: most people could reclaim up to 1/3 of their day if sleep wasn’t necessary… 🤔

There are so many book I want to read; and probably more that I would discover if I had more time to read. Fiction, non-fiction, historical, self-help – you name, and I would probably read it. One thing I hear every successful writer suggest to any aspiring write is to read…everything.

Since sleep isn’t necessary in this scenario would reading still make me sleepy? Asking for a friend.

Learn a new skill

This could go hand-in-hand with more reading. I’m assuming that among all the extra reading I’m doing I would hopefully be reading some instructional / how-to / DIY text and learn a new skill with all this extra free time.

Exercise / work out

I wrote yesterday about how I’m getting back into exercising/working out every day. One of the things that held me back – and holds most people back from exercising regularly, I believe – is not having enough time in their day. Eliminating sleep would allow us all enough time to exercise/work out every day.

Be more social

If I had more time in my day, I would make a point of making those extra phone calls, FaceTime calls, emails, actual meaningful social media messages, to stay in touch with friends and family. It’s easy for us to get caught up in the everyday grind that we don’t slow down to stay in touch with some of the most important people in our lives.

Destroy my CPAP machine

I love my CPAP machine. It has been a game changer for me, as I wrote about here; but if I don’t need to sleep, I don’t have to worry about sleep apnea anymore!

I can imagine me re-enacting the copy machine scene from Office Space – taking a baseball bat to my CPAP machine while “Still” by the Geto Boys booms in the background..

I’m sure I would think of other stuff to do with all of this new extra time. I’m trying to be mature about it and say that I’d like to be more productive. But the truth is that without needing to sleep, I would probably just sit around and watch even more Star Trek reruns…

If you didn’t need to sleep, what would you do with all of the extra time? Would you be productive? Care free? Care less? Drop a comment and let me know!

      Ren… What’s happening?

Um yeah, if you can get those TPS reports to me ASAP, that would be great.

Also, I’m gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday.

      Thanks Ren.
