Christmas Eve Eve Ruminations

It’s like the Airing of Grievances, only positive.

As I sit here on this day before Christmas Eve, I am grateful to you, my readers. No, I don’t have my holiday ass-backwards, but I am feeling very thankful today.

Four months ago, I decided to take another stab at one of these “daily writing prompts“ and I was surprised at how many readers I got. My blog had been floundering, for years, really, and I was shot by the sudden of up-tick in views. I start interacting with some of you. We started following each other and leaving comments on each other’s posts. My number has continued to grow over these last four months.

I’m also more active on social media than I had been before. I finally starting to do some of the kinds of things I wanted to do initially with this blog: offering advice and moral support to divorce dads.

The uptick in traffic has motivated me to write even more. I’m probably writing at a greater pace than I have at any point in my life. You guys who have been following me have motivated me and inspired me to continue writing. I’ve rediscovered how therapeutic and straight up fun Writing is for me.

For that, for helping me recover my passion for writing, I am eternally grateful. I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for me, creatively speaking.

I may have mentioned this on other posts in the last few weeks, but as I have been connecting with more people online again, I’m hearing a lot of stories about people who are really struggling this holiday season. Whether it be financially, or not be with their loved ones, this is a rough time of year.

For as much as some of my own personal problems have seemed overwhelming these last few weeks, hearing other people’s struggles have really put mine into perspective. Like Sam Malone said in the series finale of Cheers “I am the luckiest son of a bitch on Earth“.

I am nowhere near being the wealthiest man alive, and God knows I’ve got my own problems I’m dealing with, but I’m grateful for everything that I have. My family, my close circle of friends, my job, my health. through all, no matter how hard things seem to get for me, I always land on my feet.

Those of you who might be reading this, those of you who were experiencing some of your own problems right now: just remember: you are alive and breathing at this moment. December 25 is just another rotation of the Earth. Nothing, and I mean quite literally NOTHING, this world has thrown at you so far has been enough to knock you down for the count.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you again everybody. These last four months in particular have been a time of amazing internal growth for me, and I planned on continuing this streak for as long as I’m able to. I wish you all the safest and and happiest of holiday seasons. Let’s make 2024 the best year ever!

This is such a heartfelt, warm post! Thank YOU for your positive message. I wish you and your family a safe, happy christmas and new year!

As to your personal blog, I am glad to read that you will be continuing your blog in 2024. My blog is actually winding down and coming to an end. Tho, I will continue to follow others on WP and am looking forward to your posts in the new year!

Thanks. I was hoping I wasn’t being overly cheesy or anything. But this blog is really meant a lot to me and the last few months.

I’m sorry to hear that you won’t be blogging anymore. Do you have any other creative endeavors coming up?
