What colleges have you attended?
Let’s get right to it. Here’s a list – and brief descriptions – of the institutes of higher learning, whose hallowed halls I have graced over the years:
Macomb Community College – my local community college where I grew up. I went here not really know what I wanted to do, but i went anyway because I believed, as Colin Hanks says in Orange County “college is what you do after high school.”
Eastern Michigan University – After getting my associates degree at Macomb, I transferred to EMU. I changed majors about 4 times in my heart I always knew what I wanted to do. It just took me time to admit it to myself. Eastern holds the dubious distinction of being the place where I met X1.
Wayne State University – Eventually I had to get out of Eastern with a degree and move on. I enrolled at Wayne State as a post-bachelor student, where I got my teaching certificate.
I also took courses at:
Trident Technical College – a community college in the Charleston, SC area. I took a few classes here when I briefly flirted with the idea of going into nursing.
The Citadel – this was as a graduate student. I was not an undergraduate. I was not a cadet. I did not wear the blue uniform. I took a few graduate courses here in education.
One of the things I am looking to do this year, as part of my blueprint for 2024 is to return to grad school. I have exactly decided which school year, or even what program I want to pursue. But I do have myself narrowed down to a few options for a program.
Did you attend college? If so, which one, or ones? Given your work, was college worth it?
