What’s your dream job?
As I mentioned elsewhere on this blog, there’s only three things I’ve ever really wanted to be in my life: an astronaut, a filmmaker, and a teacher. I achieved the last one. I actually thought I was going to dabble in the second one. But the first, being an astronaut, has always been my dream job.
Ever since I was a little kid, and I blame Star Wars for this, I feel like space has been calling to me. It’s hardwired into our DNA as humans to want to explore, to learn new things, to expand understanding of the world, and to be the person who gets to say “I was there first“.
I’ve always felt like there’s more to life than what we see in this planet. THIS can’t be it, can it? I also think it’s the pinnacle of hubris to assume we are the only intelligent life in the entire universe.

There was a philosopher (his name escapes me right now, I will edit it in after I go back and look him up) who tried to prove the existence of God by saying that, since humans have a common consent of what God is, he must exist. Why can’t the same be true for life in this universe? Are extraterrestrials really a concept that humans just came up with a last hundred years or so; given that we all share relatively common idea of what they are?
This got a little deeper than I expected to this morning!
