Below is a re-post of a blog entry I first wrote 11 years ago. I thought it would be interesting to look back on my thoughts from then, but also to see what I could glean from the article by re-reading it today.
It’s funny to look back on my original post and see how i little I gleaned from the article. Instead, I took the opportunity to just bitch about the chores and lack of sex in my marriage. Of course, I was still going through the divorce process at this time 11 years ago.
First off, the statistics given are obviously dated. Of course, this is not taking into account the affects of Covid-19 and the numbers of people who have since started working in from home. I have to wonder if couple who split household chores along traditional gender lines – as a result of working from home – have more sex.
I found it interesting when the article said that men are taking in a more active role in caring for their children. I have no doubt this is true. My mom used to tell, particularly when Kid 1 was little, was “i can count on one hand the number of times that your father changed you, your brother, or your sister’s diapers.” My experience with both Kid 1 and Kid 2 has been that i changed just as many diapers as their mothers did.
Guys, doing extra housework isn't going to get you laid more. It's just not.
Of course, the article there is no proof that men who take more of an active role in child care have more sex. And why should it? To make a long story short: Guys, doing extra housework isn’t going to get you laid more. It’s just not. In fact, some guys may end up finding that they have less sex if the do take on more housework.
