Do you need a break? From what?
Right now, I need a break from Michigan winters.
OK. I know that comes across this kind of whiny. It’s not like our winters are as bad as Alaska’s, or even Minnesota’s, or even Buffalo, NY. We really don’t get that much snow; nor does it get extremely cold here. But I’m really sick of the gray skies that we see all the time. Honestly we have more cloudy days than we do sunny days.
True story: I have an old friend from high school who told me that his wife’s uncle had moved from Alaska to Michigan. He was miserable here. He came to the realization that he saw the Sun more in Alaska than he did in Michigan, so he moved back to Alaska.

When I was in college, I had my first full-blown case of seasonal depression. I stopped going to classes. I hardly left my apartment in fact, I very nearly dropped off school that semester. If I had, I honestly wonder if I would have ever gone back. When I was younger, I used to think that I hated fall and winter because it meant the end of baseball. Now I know better.
On the bright side, the days are getting longer. We’re getting one extra minutes of sunlight in the morning; while it’s setting one minute later each night as well. Still, we are long way from warmer weather.
