This past Monday night, Jon Stewart made his return to The Daily Show after 9 years. The current plan is for Stewart to host the show on Monday nights, specifically so he can cover the Presidential election campaign. However, I wonder if Comedy Central will push him to host more frequently, as Stewart’s return got The Daily Show it’s best ratings in 5 years.
Stewart pulled no punches in his return. Although Stewart leans to the political left, he had no problem calling out Joe Biden and the recent talk of his memory issues. Likewise, Trump’s highlights speak for themselves. Stewart’s overall message regarding the 2024 election cycle boiled down to one burning question: “What TF are we doing?!”
Biden is the incumbent candidate. Democrats would be fools to replace him as their candidate, especially this close to the election. But his share and his mental acuity come more into question with each h passing day. Trump is…Trump. His 91 pending indictments should speak for themselves. Sadly, most of his followers would march off of a cliff for Trump if he asked them.
But Stewart’s nonpartisan frustration with these 2 candidates is nothing new. I remember the final few months of the 2020 campaign; when the field had finally whittled down to Biden and Trump. Both made America look like the most dysfunctional country on Earth with those debates. Don’t believe me? Check out these highlights…or low lights, for yourself
That’s it, right there. That’s what this election cycle will look like, again. Actually I think this campaign cycle will be much nastier than 2020 was. I will never vote for Trump, but that doesn’t mean I’m completely on-board “Ridin’ with Biden” either. As i’ve said before, the rest of the world is looking at America the same way that most of America looks at Florida. They’re not laughing with us; they’re laughing at us. I’m just dumbfounded that the best that either party can trot out are the oldest, whitest, hotheads in the room. Again…
