I don’t know if it’s the best gift I’ve ever received, but one of my favorite gifts that I’ve ever received, – and the one that is immediately coming to mind – is a personalized Louisville Slugger baseball bat that I got from X1. In fact, it is probably the one material possession that I ever got from her that I still have to this day.
It’s one of those gifts/souvenir bats, that they sold on the website, if they don’t still sell it there. It’s not an MLB game-ready authentic bat or anything like that. But what makes it so cool to me is that my signature is actually engraved on the bat. The bat came with a pair of arms to hang on a wall for display purposes.
It’s strange because we’ve been divorced for almost pay 12 years. I haven’t put the bat on display since I moved, but I still like it and I plan on displaying it again someday. I never had the heart to hang it up when I was with X2, because I didn’t want to get into any arguments about whether or not the bat reminded me of X1. Surprisingly, it doesn’t. It’s just that being the baseball junkie that I am, I really like it.
Incidentally, the other day, I bought tickets for a Detroit Tigers/Cincinnati Reds baseball game in Cincinnati on Independence Day weekend. I see that Louisville is roughly 90 minutes from Cincinnati; so I am seriously considering taking an extra day and going to the Louisville Slugger factory.
