Going into Saturday, the tournament was cut in half – going from the initial 64 down to 32 teams. 8 games were held Saturday, with another 8 being played later today. Here’s how (what’s left of) my bracket fared on Saturday:

- In 8 games, I went 5-3 Keep in mind, this is my bracket as I set it up on Monday. I did not make new picks going into the round of 32.
- The only full game game I’ve watched thus far was the Oakland- NC State game. I was little bummed to see Oakland lose, as they are local, smaller school and went into the game as an underdog. But NC State needed 5 minutes of overtime to finish iff the Golden Grizzlies. I’m just happy that Oakland University got this level of national exposure.
- Oregon was giving me a little bit of the Oakland University vibe this year, Sadly, this was also the year of the final PAC 12 tournament; as the “conference“ will be down to just two teams for next year. I picked Oregon as an underdog over Creighton, and that backfired. Click HERE for more information about the end of the PAC 12.
- Gonzaga – Kansas was a 4/5 pairing. Which, on paper, tells you that they are pretty well evenly matched. Gonzaga‘s become something of the basketball powerhouse in the last 2 decades or so; but Kansas is no slouch either.
- Beyond that, Saturday’s game went pretty much the way I expected them to.
