In the Men’s NCAA basketball tournament, the “sweet 16” is officially set. Games will resume on Thursday. I’m the meantime, here’s some notes and observations after the first 4 days of the tournament- and the bulk of the overall games

- For the round of 32 teams, I went 12-6 in my picks. Keep in mind, this is based on the tournament as picked it from beginning to end last Monday. For the 48 games that haven’t been played so far, I am 36-12. I guess that’s pretty consistent.
- Incidentally, ESPN.com has a “second chance sweet 16 bracket challenge”. Since virtually everybody brackets are “broken” at this point. They allow fans a chance to pick again from the remaining 16 teams. Maybe I’ll check that out; just to compare picks now and then.
- Picking 11th seed Oregon over 3rd seed Creighton in this latest round was pretty dumb in hindsight. I was riding the “last pac 12 tournament” sentiment and reality had other plans. Sometimes I just get upset-crazy…
- …as I did with Oakland. Their story was a good one, but so is NC State’s.
- The same thing I said about Creighton applies to Duke. I made the same mistake with Michigan State in the first round of the tournament. Every now and then I have to trust the powerhouse schools to do what they do year in and year out!
- One last thing: IM BACK IN FIRST PLACE IN MY WORK’S GROUP COMPETITION! imagine how out-of-control my ego would be if we were playing something for other than bragging rights.
