This is my attempt at some stream of consciousness writing. Bear with me, as I realize it’s a lot of the same stuff that’s been heavily on my writing rotation the last several days…
The aftermath of turning 50 is still hanging over my head. I’m still feeling the need to establish new parameters, and determine a purpose for life going forward.
Talking with my siblings the other night just reminded me of how old we are all getting. Instead of making me fear death or questioning my own mortality, it’s making me want go out and do more, achieve more. Cross things off my bucket list that I’ve been wanting to do for so long.
As I’m reaching what is likely to be the final quarter of my life, I’ve come to the realization that I don’t need a romantic partner for the last leg of this journey. I would like one, but I don’t need one. If my boys don’t want to take part in bucket list activities with me, then I will do them alone. I want to be both a father and a man that they can be proud of. If I’m lucky, I would like to leave some sort of legacy behind for them as well.
