I feel most productive in the morning. I feel like if i can get myself moving in the morning, I can build up momentum to keep me moving through the rest of the day. That, and getting productive early in the day makes me feel like I’m ahead of the rest of the world, I suppose it’s kind of like that old slogan that the US Army used to use on their commercials in the 1980s: “We do more before 9 AM than most people do all day.“
There’s a saying that one of my all-time favorite pro wrestling personalities, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan used to say: “When you go to bed at night, I’m still up; and when you get up in the morning, I’ve already been up!”

For years, I tried to live by that idea. I would go to sleep long after other people had already gone to bed. And I would get up before other people did. Of course, this was before I understood what sleep apnea was and I learned how to actually sleep at night.
Of course, my “morning person-ness” was only intensified by the fact that I’m a schoolteacher. As such, I don’t really have much choice but to be awake, alert, and motivated for in the morning.
