I am, have been, and will almost certainly l always be – a rock guy. The truth is, I really have a great deal of respect for anybody who can produce any type of music. It’s just something truly magical about getting human voices and a handful of instruments – be them acoustic, electronic, wind-based or percussion – together to create music.
Rock has always been able to tap into my emotions, love, happiness, excitement, anger, sorrow, heartbreak. This isn’t to say that I don’t listen to other genres of music, or that there aren’t moments where I just need something more mellow. But buy and large, rock has always served as the soundtrack to my life .
Aside from the raw emotion, something about the spirit of rebellion that is contained rock music has always spoken to me. I’ve often wondered if I were born 10 to 15 years sooner, if I would’ve been a hippie. Fortunately, for me, I feel like I’ve never really outgrown the spirit of rock music. In fact, the only genre that I can think of that even approached the rebellious nature of rock is rap.
What is your favorite genre of music?
