I think in the years to come, I’m going to really regret not blogging on a regular basis about the utter shit show that is the 2024 US presidential election
I posted earlier this year about Donald Trump, his 34 convictions for business fraud, and his efforts to manipulate the 2020 presidential election.
Fast forward to about a month ago, Donald Trump and President Biden had their first of their two scheduled presidential debates. I didn’t watch this debate, but by all accounts, Biden was terrible. He was forgetful, he was stumbling over his words, he was muttering. Donald Trump was much better. Evidently he refused to tell the truth any point during the debate.
Almost immediately, calls came for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election. Then, some of the mega-donors decided that they were going to withhold campaign donations unless Biden withdrew from the campaign. When that didn’t work, they started to threaten donations for the “down the ballot “Democrats.
Then, of course, 10 days ago, Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt; one that is highly dubious at best. Flowing the assassination attempt, a lot of people were starting to think that Trump was going to win the election this November in a route – just on sympathy alone.
This past Sunday, Joe Biden announced that he was withdrawing for the 2024 presidential election. This far, Biden, other high ranking Democrat, politicians and the aforementioned, mega donors or Endor and Kamala Harris as a new candidate for president.
At first, I was a little leery of Harris running for president. I remember his stories about how ineffectively run her campaign was during the early stages of the 2024 election cycle. It’s so far, she and other Democrats are saying all the right things.
In addition, there is the inescapable reality of Donald Trump running against not only woman, but a black woman, a former US senator AND a former prosecuting attorney. Seeing a former prosecutor and a 34-time convicted felon appear together and debate is very definition of must see TV.
I don’t wanna make any predictions, out of the risk of jinxing things. Having said that, I like Harris’s chances against Trump. More than that, I’m thinking about the historical ramifications, should she win the presidency: the first female president, the first black female president. This could truly be historic.
Should Harris win, we will see her instantly elevated to the status of immortal legends of black history. It will be her, Martin Luther King, Harriet Tubman, and Barack Obama on every single black history graphic – forever.
We’re already starting to see the beginnings of a Obama-esque groundswell of support for Harris. In just a few days since her candidacy was announced, her campaign has already raised over $100 million in donations.
Here’s where it gets really crazy…
A few weeks back, I was talking to some of my friends, and I was mapping out a potential doomsday scenario for this year‘s election. My mind was going to worst case scenarios. I was thinking to myself that Biden could drop out of the election, Trump could get sentenced to prison, leaving both parties in a state of total chaos.
One part of that scenario has happened. Thankfully, it looks as a Harris is going to be stepping up as the presumptive Democratic candidate. If nothing else, it looks like Wilma Rudolf is going to have a recurring role on SNL for the next few months.
Hold onto your hats. I think the next 100 days are going to get really crazy in this country.
