Rob‘s trip in the Multiverse

I’ve officially reached the point where WordPress is recycling old prompts from roughly one year ago. In fact, the next several days worth of prompts are one from Iast year. For the last several days, I’ve been cheating a little bit and then I’ve been embedding my original responses to these prompts in a new post. However, today, I actually have some new material to add on this topic…

I got a little taste of life in an alternate universe on Tuesday as well. As I wrote about here, I decided to take kid 2 to Illinois to meet up with kid 1 and X1, who were touring college campuses. Kid 1 and I checked out the university of Illinois Champaign Urbana campus today.

The four of us went to get lunch after. It was bizarre. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I don’t feel complete unless I have both of my sons with me. But today was a little strange because X1 was there. In a weird way, I kind of felt like what my family might be in some kind of alternate reality.

MCU Anchors, as explained on Reddit

In the new movie Deadpool & Wolverine, there’s a new plot element introduced in to Matvel Cinematic Universe – or more appropriately now “the Multiverse” – It’s the idea that there in each of the different realities that make up the multiverse there are certain people who are “anchors“ to different realities. These are people whose very existence is directly linked to the existence of their reality. Without these people, their respective universes would ultinately cease to exist.

In the way that nerds like me like to apply elements of comics book fiction or our everyday lives, sometimes I think that my life branched off in a new alternate reality at the moment if my divorce. Maybe one day I’ll be just as sentimental about my relationship with X2, but I’m not there yet. With all that being said, I feel like Kid 1 and Kid 2 are the “anchors” of my universes. They are the constants of my life.

    Liked the personal elements. 🙂

The whole anchor person thing was another poorly thought out idea by Marvel though. It means most alternate realities aren’t even going to last a full human lifespan… Countless realities collapsing in upon themselves in less than the blink of a cosmic eye.

Yeah, I wondered about that too. I mean humans obviously only live a finite lifespan. Does that mean that those realities collapse when that person dies?

Yep, not instantly, but it happens.
