A DIETARY DISCLAIMER: I come from a family of bland eaters. And in said family of bland eaters, I was “the kid who wouldn’t eat”. Needless to say, I didn’t exactly grew up with a diverse palette. Sometimes I wonder if I really was such a picky eater; or that I was picky because I didn’t like the food that my family was making. Maybe it was a little bit of both. In any event, I don’t have a lot of options as far as a “unique family holiday dish”; I ended up falling back on what is The strangest and most unique holiday dish I’ve ever seen at my family’s dinner table.
Decades before the story about McDonald’s and their “pink slime” broke, (a practice which thankfully ended years ago). I’ve been seeing this stuff my family holiday dinner table for as long as I can remember. I don’t know what it’s actually called. But I’m sure it has a name. I don’t know what’s exactly it is. I have heard a few items in the recipe before, and the recipe does sound relatively simple. But the mystery is what adds to the legend of pink stuff. At this point, I don’t want to know what’s in it. I don’t want to know what it’s called. And I still don’t want to eat it!
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving day here in America. I like to think of today as “Thanksgiving Eve” it has been said that today is the busiest travel day of the entire Here in the states. And for many years, tonight was also considered “the biggest night of the year” as both grown adults and college students were making their way home as well for the holiday. I am hoping to cross something off of my proverbial bucket list tomorrow morning. If I do it. I will most likely be flying solo. I don’t even want to say anything about it right now out of fear of jinxing it for myself. We’ll see what happens…
