One thing that I would continue to wish to change about myself as my ability to procrastinate. I simply put stuff off too long. I’ve done it for so long however that I’m at a point now where I can’t bring myself to focus on one particular topic, unless I’m on a tight deadline. It’s almost like I can only work when I’m under pressure.
I responded to this prompt roughly one year ago at this time with essentially the same answer; however, I went into more detail about it. I even talk about the way that procrastinating is considered a symptom of anxiety, which puts it right in my wheelhouse. Check out my embed below for more on this.
as for the here right now, today was my first day back to work after our Thanksgiving break. This was, behavior, wise, the absolute worst day of classes I’ve dealt with all year. In one period alone, I wrote up one student from mouthing off to me, and I had to send a boy and a girl down to the office for fighting.
not to make excuses for my students behavior, but I think a lot of the problem for many of them is that school is probably the most ordered, structured place in their entire life. I used to notice this as well when I was teaching in Detroit. I feel like for a lot of my students, they get out of school for a few days and it’s almost as if they forget how they are expected to behave while they are in school. In any event, I will enjoy not having the three lemon class tomorrow. And to be honest, right now, I’m in the mood to kick some more of them out tomorrow. Something change with me today. Even my earlier classes. I think I really lost a lot of my patience with my students.
