This should come as no surprise to anybody who knows me at all. Batman: The Animated Series is not only my favorite cartoon of all time; but in my opinion, it is also the definitive take on the Batman mythos. I truly feel that if one was only watch be: TAS from beginning to end, and have no other exposure to the Batman mythos, they would come away with a excellent understanding of who the character truly is.
The success of Batman: The Animated Series lead to the creation of Superman: the animated series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice league, international, and static shock. This collective of animated shows would come to be known as the DC animated universe, or DCAU. It was often referred to as the. Timmverse – a call back to series producer Bruce Timm. . Furthermore, it’s fair to say that the success of the DCAU lead to the plethora of feature length, direct-to-video, DC animated feature films.
But I must admit that Batman: Caped Crusader has the potential to be an excellent runner-up. Check out my review of that show HERE.
