Staycation

As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today

What excites you about this week?

This week, I’m excited about the fact that my school and my school district are on midwinter break, which means I’m off for a week!

I really wanted to make a trip to see Kid 1 – even if it was just for a few days. I may hold off on that, because he has two college visits coming up: one at the end of this month, and another at the end of March. He’s getting to the point where he’s going to have to make a decision as to which school he’s going to attend.

Even if I don’t get out of town for a few days, I’m still excited about the fact that I won’t have any work for the week. I would like to use a time to do a little bit of lesson planning though. I plan to start teaching my 10th graders a novel as soon as we return.

I’m not really looking forward to a “staycation”. The weather in Michigan sucks right now; and it’s about to get god-awful in the next 12 hours or so. I just really want to get away from the snow for a few days. It would be really nice to be in a place where I can see green grass, the sun and maybe even wear shorts.

But it might be nice to truly get some things done around the house. There’s some deep cleaning that I’ve wanted to do. This would be a good time to do it. While I’m at it maybe I could actually get myself in the habit of going to the gym again on a regular basis.

I’ve been trying to keep school break low-key to both Betty and Veronica (as I’m now referring to the two women who I am currently talking to/dating) that I was going to be off all week. I think I mentioned it once to both of them in passing. They both said they had forgotten about it; although that was by my design.

At the risk of tooting my own horn, I think that Betty fell pretty hard for me, pretty quickly. I don’t mind saying that that is a little bit… Intimidating for me to process. Things with Veronica seem to be much more casual. I talk/ text both of them every day. Veronica seems more chill about the fact that we probably don’t see each other even once a week. The funny thing is Veronica lives only a few minutes away from me; whereas Betty lives nearly an hour away.

They’re both really easy to talk to, but I just like how casual calm Veronica seems to be. It’s not like Betty is a head-case or anything. But I really think I want to make a good run of things with Veronica.
